GARY KNOWLES
27th November 2007
In Late October I decided to take a trip to Chew Valley in Bristol to mark the start of my own 'pike season' it’s a big water so my boat partner (Dave Kelbrick) and I decided to cover as much water as possible by using a drogue and casting lures in front of the boats. This certainly seemed to work and soon we were catching good numbers of fish although the size of these was a little disappointing most of them being jacks and low doubles.
However we were convinced that covering as much water as possible was the way to go, and felt that sooner or later we would eventually cover one of the lakes bigger fish so we carried on working hard and making long drifts across the 1200 acres lake.
Around mid-day I hooked a fish that was obviously much better and this turned out to be a cracking fish of 21lb 12oz, personally I doubt I'll ever tire of catching fish of this size and would have been more than happy if that had turned out to be my last fish of the day. However today fortune was smiling on me and during a brief break in the atrocious weather I had a hit to a small 6" replicant just a few feet from the boat from what was obviously another big fish. The rod was dragged under the boat and a short powerful fight soon had the fish on the unhooking mat and this indeed was another good fish. It was long, with a large head and perfect fins and weighed 26lb 2oz meaning I had just landed my best ever brace of pike.
What a fantastic way to start the autumn !

DUNCAN CHARMAN
27th November 2007
Following his fifteen taken three weeks ago Korum backed Duncan Charman has encountered nine consecutive blanks on a difficult Thames Tributary. Undeterred and after a sleepless night Duncan (42) from Aldershot Hampshire rose at 4-30am and headed for the river when most offer anglers were still asleep.
Having his tackle ready to grab and go at any opportunity helped, and it took just twenty minutes, well before dawn had arrived, after his first cast to see the tip pull round.
The swim Duncan was fishing has a big snag downstream, so it was hit and hold, which created a fantastic fight that saw lots of swirls and tail slapping under the rod tip.
Duncan wasn’t expecting a fish of 16lbs 1oz and would certainly have given it a bit more credit if known. The fish took a 13mm Sonu-baits hard pellet with a paste mix of the same pressed around the lead. End tackle was the tried and tested 10lbs Sufix Camfusion with a size 8 barbless S3 hook, 10lbs main line with a Korum Neoteric 12' Quiver to help tame the specimen.

New Product - Ruckbag
7th November 2007
Korum has launched the RuckBAG, a piece of kit that the press is raving about.
What Angling Times have to say: "I don’t know how the lads at Korum keep doing it. Another great innovation which will make a huge difference to the way we fish. Quality as standard with fabulous functionality, too. They’re in the shops in time for Christmas and make sure you take a look at them – they’ll sell fast."

DUNCAN CHARMAN
1st November 2007
A gut feeling that a swim on a Thames Tributary would finally produce the goods after seven previously fruitless sessions proved right with the downfall of this 15lbs 5oz barbel. Over the last few weeks Duncan Charman (42) has been dropping into the swim for short forty minute sessions and on leaving the swim has been introducing a good helping of Sonu Baits scolded 4mm hard feed pellets with a few 11mm samples embedded within.
The swim has been extremely weedy and although in previous sessions l have never felt confident with the drop of the lead small signs have always kept me interested. Normally l would only make one cast, but today the first felt to soft so l recasted to feel a good bump on the bottom.
In a weird way l knew that this swim would produce, it just looked and felt right! Successful tackle included a Korum 12’ Neoteric Quiver Rod, 10lbs line, two flying back leads, a Sufix Camfusion hooklink completely stripped back with two 11mm Sonu Hallibut pellets attached to S3 size 8 hook.

Caught this one Tuesday this week fishing as a guest of an FM member on a stretch of the upper Trent I'd never fished before. It weighed 10lb 10oz. It was the only fish of the day and I was using the a Korum neoteric rod. Also used was Korum 12lb main line and bait was a 13mm Sonu Halibut pellet.

Duncan charman- DANCING IN the rain
14th August 2007
Most sensible anglers stayed at home taking the national weather forecast seriously but Korum backed Duncan Charman decided to venture out and was just rewarded in the shape of this magnificent Thames mirror of 30lbs 2oz. Teaming up with father Tony the duo set up on a undisclosed stretch of the River Thames in Berkshire awaiting the forecasted storm on Thursday 19th July. The rain started at 11pm and continued relentlessly till 12 noon the following day when the river became un-fishable but four hours before their timely retreat, Duncan’s 15mm pop-up presented on a Chod-rig was finally picked up.
Duncan presented his hookbait on a clear patch next to reeds on the far bank over a bed of Sonu-baits, 11mm hard Halibut pellets and 15mm Shellfish boilies. Using 5oz of lead plus backleads Duncan was just beginning to wonder if his first Thames Carp of the season was going to fall before the floods hit and made the rivers un-fishable but after numerous Bream his persistence paid off. It just goes to show that even when you feel the odds are against you it’s worth venturing out, as it’s not over until the fat lady sings and this girl was certainly fat! The trip home that day that normally takes 1hr 40mins took close on to 4hrs, but the weather certainly did not dampen our spirits!

Duncan charman - Rudd Session
13th August 2007
I may not be getting out much but obviously when l do I'm making the right venue choice. Below you will find my recent rudd session on Frensham Great Pond. Fishing the waggler and corn into dark, apart from probably 50lbs of small rudd and a couple of Tench l managed 9 rudd over 1lbs 14oz, inc 5 twos to 2lbs 8oz and a three of 3lbs 40 which sets a new personal best. What a session!
