I love lure fishing for pike, so when I got the opportunity to lure fish Chew valley for a day with the Lure Anglers Society I jumped at the chance!
With pretty much no boats at anchor it allows you to drift over large distances covering acres of water, searching out the large pike which are still active before the first deep freeze arrives.
Having caught a few upper doubles I finally hooked into a ‘proper’ fish whilst casting over a shallow bay. At 23lb 8oz that would have been enough to send me home happy, but an hour or so later I hooked into an even larger fish that pulled the scales around to 25lb 8oz! A fantastic brace to continue my great start to the predator season!
